I just say, how sorry I am to hear that and I hope they get effective pain relief soon. Their pain is a big thing to them so why not be nice after all its not their fault you are suffering. I tend not to let on about how bad my pain is, my family can tell and help out where they can. Its my problem not anyone else's.

I give them the same respect & understanding as I would hope they would give me. We all experience chronic pain differently and everyone has a different tolerance level for pain. I believe in kindness & compassion for all.

I just shut my mouth. Even a fool looks wise if his mouth is shut. One is unable to comprehend a pain that has not somehow lived it.

Listen to them because their pain is probably worse than mine at the moment. I've become accustom to my pain and have learned to deal with it daily. They aren't use to any kind of pain.

I had to really think about this question and to be totally honest I must answer this way; ( I have RSD/CRPS)
Pain is Pain it's that easy! I do not discount someone else's pain nor do I ever compare someone pain to mine. The difference comes when the pain is lifelong or temporary, my daughter had her second child natural or that was her plan but asked after 2 hours for an epidural and my son had kidney stones, both of them told me afterwards how bad the pain was but did acknowledge me by asking "Mom how do you do it day after day?" Response: I take it one hour at a time, one day at a time, one week at a time and so on. Pain is pain!
