Anyone Diagnosed With Transverse Myelitis
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been diagnosed with myelitis for almost 15 yrs. In the mean time, was told needed knee replacement, had pinched nerve in back .......told needed fusion in back and knee replacement.....I have lots of pain in lower back and left inner knee.....I believe knee pain is from myelitis which pain started right after being diagnosed. My whole left side went numb back then and the knee pain never left me. Had an EMG told no nerve damage
Have had shots to no relief. Confused----now… read more

Thank you......I find that interesting about the EMG......its getting to the point you don't know who to believe anymore.........I have had. 3 different opinions on my back
I am glad to hear you have had good luck with stimulator. I think I am going to try that...and of course, I have heard so many different thoughts of that as well. I guess I am going to make my on choice and go for it. THank you for your insight....Keep up the good work

Hi Sue- I don't share your diagnosis, but I have a spinal cord stimulator and can give you my experience. I had an EMG once that said there was no damage. There was significant damage another doctor told me! So you might want to check that or get another opinion. I have severed nerves in my lower back and pelvis. The stimulator masks that pain for me. It works very well for me. As for recovery, there was almost none. I remember being my old self within a couple of days. My "battery pack" is located in my upper buttock/lower back just under the skin.

It takes a while working with the rep to interpret your pain response and get different settings. But for me it was worth it. It was the only way I had to stay off pain meds that made it impossible to work.

Hope that is a bit helpful!
