Does Anyone Know The Procedure For Getting A Service Animal?
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

I live alone and have for the last 4 years. I'm lonesome and in dire need of companionship and having another soul to care for would lift my spirits and sense of purpose mightily. I would like a beagle or lab service dog. I'm 6'6" and labs can be physical to handle at times. That's why a beagle might be better. I had a dog before my divorce and he stayed with my son. Even though I raised him from a 2 week old pup and bottle fed him every 4 hours for 6 weeks. Please help me.

It is my understanding that you need to be diagnosed by a physician and you will train with the dog if you qualify for one.

@A MyChronicPainTeam Member thanks for the info. I dont know if I need a highly trained service dog per say. But I do need a service animal certification. My apartments have a $500 non refundable pet deposit. If it's a service animal there is no deposit. That's my particular case. Anyway I thank you very much. Take gentle care.

If u r in the states under the ADA you are allowed to owner train your own servive dog and it must know 1 task to be considered such and comfort is not a task the ada recognizes.
My girl is trained to alert to my glucose levels and for hearing alert. My huabnds sd is trained for seizure responce and guide work. Both have taken me close to 2 years to train from the ground up in their jobs. But it has been worth it, they are also recognized by our provincial diability body and we get a monthly stipance that goes towards their care from the government.

Yes older dog would be so much better than a puppy.
