Radiofrequency Ablation For Chronic Back Pakn ?
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone had experience with radiofrequency ablation ? Im looking into getting it done for my lumbar. Would love to hear what people think. My right verterbrae rubs agains my sacrum which puts pressure on my nerves, ive had evrything from tramadol to buprenorphine nothing has worked for me.I am on a waiting list to see an orthopedic surgeon, I have already been waiting for over a year on the waiting list. So I am looking into getting this done privately just to get it done asap.

Hi
I have had that done alot of times in my back and neck . At first it did help alot but it does wear off and when those nerves come back the pain is evan worse they cant do it to me anymore because now it doesnt work and the pain is so bad!! Its up to you but if I could go back in time I would not of had it done.
Hope all goes well for you

For me I would not do this. I think it too risky and not enough long term relief.

I had the RF oblation. The procedure hurt some and it took about a week to kick in. But I had about 6 months of no pain in lumbar area. It was awesome. I could walk around stores actually do some household chores. When it wore off, wow pain was back. The Pain Dr should have prepared to have it done again but I’ve been in really bad pain and have been waiting 3 months to get back in. I’ve heard some people it can last a year. Good luck
