My Medical Aid Fund advised that it will not pay for Lyrica as it hasn't been approved in South Africa. To expensive to continue using at own cost !

For the past 12 years I have suffered from neuropathy in my legs and have been taking Lyrica for pain.
Recently the pain has worsened so my doctor prescribed Magnesium.
Has anyone else taken Magnesium for pain and has it worked?

If so how do you cope with the pain that changed your life!!! Hi, I have been on Lyrica for about 6 months and have put on about 12 kgs. The problem is it is mostly around my middle section and added to the chronic pain it is getting me down. Has anyone else experienced weight gain while on Lyrica and how do you combat it. Really need to be able to lose some of this weight as the extra kgs are making my back pain worse.

Also, I cannot lay flat. I have to sleep upright in a recliner. i don't even own a bed anymore it's been years since i've been able to lay flat. anybody else have this challenge? i met one other person here.

How do you get your motivation back after a long fight with pain. The feeling of giving up when nothing seems to go right? When those you talk to say they don't wanna hear it anymore? When you have so much that needs done but your body won't cooperate and you feel overwhelmed.

I have a friend who thinks that I am putting it on, when I say that I am in pain, as she just says, well you look good, are you sure you have pain, this really hurts me inside. Do any of you have friends or family who think that the pain is in your head?

Wanted to know if it ever gets any easier. My heart is broken and it doesn't seem to get any better. How do you deal with being in so much pain without having you spouse here to help and even just to have someone just to vent or talk to. Plus never mind supporting your self and a child while being on disability. Also if anyone has ways to save money on every day things to get through to the next pay day.
