Members shared a wide range of specialists who help manage their chronic pain, with the most frequently mentioned being pain management doctors, neurologists, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and rheumatologists, while others also found relief through psychologists, acupuncturists, and multidisciplinary pain clinics. Several members described frustrating experiences with providers, including a doctor who abruptly stopped all medications without consultation and patients feeling dismissed or abandoned when told nothing more could be done. A recurring theme was the importance of building a coordinated care team, advocating for oneself when treatment feels inadequate, and exploring both medical and alternative approaches like acupuncture and non-pharmaceutical pain management techniques.

I am under a specialist pain team, led by an anaethatist. I also have a team that consists of a counsellor, OT, and physio therapist. They have been great in helping me use non pharmaceutical methods to deal with my pain plate ups and daily issues.

Neuromuscular....they tend to treat it all. If your spine is pressing nerve, it leads to constant spasms. Top that with fibromyalgia and it keeps getting better (sarcasm). But they've addressed all issues without adding 10 different meds. And ask for coupons for meds from any Dr.....makes a difference.
