Medical Marijuana

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Sydney, AU

Hi
I live in Sydney Australia and canabis is technically illegal here and medical canabis is under review and available only for certain conditions but apparently not for polymyalgia which my 85 year old mother has and is in constant pain despite many many attempts to give her various medications and visits to numerous specialists over the past few years. Approaching Christmas it would be nice to offer her at least an attempt with canabis bought off the street and turned into canabutter

Members shared their experiences and practical advice for using cannabis products to manage chronic pain, with many noting that CBD oil, cannabutter, and low-THC/high-CBD strains like cannatonic can provide relief, though finding the right dosage requires careful trial and error and starting with very small amounts. Several members emphasized that edibles take longer to take effect (20 minutes to 3 hours) but last much longer than smoked cannabis, with some experiencing 12-hour effects, while others discussed the accessibility challenges including high costs, legal restrictions on travel, and impacts on short-term memory or anxiety from THC. A recurring theme was frustration with legal barriers and pharmaceutical industries limiting access to what many consider effective pain management, balanced with encouragement to research strains, explore CBD oil availability, and connect with experienced users or medical professionals in regions where it's legal.

the strain that my son has given me is a low THC (the psychotropic property) and a higher CBD. The strain is called cannatonic I have never learned to work it down myself, so i'm fortunate to have someone who can help me with it. Just start with TINY bits of it in food. It usually takes anywhere from 20 min to an hour for hit to kick in. The cannatonic, when dosed appropriately (for me anyway) leaves me still able to function, but the relief from the pain is there. That's about all I know. I'm pretty new to it.

Good luck with your situation.

If you need advice on how to make cannabutter I can walk you through it. I can't imagine how awful my pain would be without cannabis and feel strongly that it's the pharmaceutical industry that keeps it illegal.

Hi Mary
Cannabutter may be an answer. My daughter had a go at making some but don't think it was too successful. It would be lovely if you can offer some advice. Rrmemberinga my mother is 85 i obviously want to be cautious.
How are you today? I see yesterday wasn't so good.

Yep the CBD oil is best in creams or capsules. I did years of research and found, for me, a combination works best. The newest research is that using the whole plant rather than just buds or flowers has the most healing power. People that suffer from cancer, seizures, Autism etc. are being cured with this oil.
