Members opened up about the difficult reality that chronic pain severely limits their ability to travel, with many describing having to stop frequently on car trips, being unable to fly comfortably, or avoiding travel altogether due to unbearable pain and exhaustion. Several members shared practical strategies that help them manage, including using heated car cushions, requesting wheelchair assistance at airports, taking pain medication before journeys, traveling with ice packs or pillows, and planning rest days into itineraries to recover from the physical toll. A recurring theme was the profound grief and isolation of giving up travel and independence, paired with fierce determination from some members to keep exploring the world despite the pain, viewing travel as essential to their quality of life and mental health.

Traveling is just not worth the hassel, extra pain and extra expense. Id rather sray home in my own bed.

I love driving, and sitting is my favourite place. My job entails sitting for 2 hours or more at a run, a short rest walking around, and then more driving. It's really the only time my back doesn't hurt.
However, my fingers present other problems with arthritis taking a firm hold. My right neck and shoulder cause some discomfort sometimes, but I do manage it without too much medication.
Gardening is done in short bursts with a sit in between jobs. I work for 5 minutes and sit for 10.

I only drive to dr. Office or food shopping. I can walk around store a couple of hours if I can hold onto a cart. Husband in wheelchair so I gwt plenty of exercise. My poor back feels broken most days. I have little choice bc I have to take care of hubby.

I rarely go farther than my local towns or villages and only then when I need to. Ive not seen family since christmas, because they dont come visit as they expect me to go to them. I can't always do this. My son hasn't seem his paternal grandmother's for six years because I can't do the driving its too far. We havent been abroad since ive become like this. It was my sons birthday a couple weeks ago and we were due to go to london. I was going to drive and booked overnight stay as I couldn't do train and walking all in one day. Thought it better I drive stay somewhere on the underground lines and then we can go our own pace, stay overnight and do a bit more before driving back. Itll still do me in but I want to do something with my boy. We are off to Italy in august. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. I'm sure once we get there I'll be fine but its travelling by public transport that makes me stressed and we all know what stress does to our pain levels xx

It affects me because I can't sit down for long periods of time or stand because the pain is so bad
