Has Anyone Else Had Issues With Your Insurance Denying Pain Medication?
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

My insurance just told me I can no longer be covered for my long acting pain meds. They want me mental health tested - tested for addiction and abuse and want to know why non-narcotic meds are not sufficient. I have bone/blood cancer
Take 2 Tylenol and I am all better???
It's crazy. My doctor has been inundated with similar things - she is part of a cancer team and sees people thru hospice.

What is going on? Share please.

What do I do? Just suffer?

This is all so crazy. Why should we be subjected to all this stress. Who decided 90mg is the right amount? It's so random.

I am so afraid of being in pain with no ability to get relief. I cannot take Advil or aspirin- I have very low platelets so I get nosebleeds. It's dangerous.

United Health Care is the worst. I fight with them almost daily and no 2 people give the same information. It's madness.

Not sure what we can do. We are at the mercy of insurance companies and this new DEA crap.
Nothing like punishing people with pain because
There are people abusing opioids. Pill mills and on line drugs are still thriving.

Thanks to all of you - we need each other

I am going to see if there is anything we can do as a group.

I have memory issues too. I was in a coma over a year ago but still have memory loss. I am sure you are just fed up- and tired of listening. I have an insurance company where the answers are different depending on who you speak to. Every agent has a different answer for the same question ...,so I too interrupt and write letters
Of course I get noplace.

I make notes now - use post it's - or I get everything screwed up. Not sure it's us. I think all the confusion doctors insurance etc cause there is no way to keep it straight.

Also not sure what pain medication yountake but 100%!that impacts memory and logic - check side effects of everything you take. It may shed some light on the situation.

Stay strong- don't be so hard on yourself.
You have us!!!!

My friend went last year and really appreciated the history which is my interest. I am a brunette so not lucky. I have been around other parts of the Middle East and as a Jew - having lied to get a visa- it was not comfortable at all. I was there for work

Your husband must have had an interesting life although being confined- even to a castle- would bug me too. And I had servants living in India and while it was nice....I always felt bad paying $20 a month and tipped like crazy

Have you travelled much? Or had your husband had his fill.

My travel is my most valued part of life. Been on the move since I was 15.

Hope you are feeling well and comfortable today.

Thanks for the info.

Warm hugs

I spoke to insurance yesterday. They want me to just try a few cheaper options.
2 of th 3 I tried already and were bad.

You are right. I will be covered all the panic for nothing.

How have you been?

Have been having issues with my blood counts which I think are now ok but I am so creaky from nor walking or doing much. Got to get my move on.

I have ambitious plans for summer. Canadian Rockies then Italy with my 2 oldest grandsons.
Both require me to do some major walking.

Must discipline myself and walk daily. My puppy will love that.

I know. It's about $

My meds range from $500-$8500 month. Cannot afford anything on my own.

They want to use morphine or methadone. Old and cheap.
