After my car accidents in 82 my back was in burning pain all the time and most Dr's dismissed it as being caused by my migraines. I finally found a neurologist that had a MRI done and diagnosed Degenerative Discussion Disease and herniated discs C2-C7. He scheduled me for trigger point injections. A few days later it occurred to me that something was different, then it dawned on me that I wasn't in pain anymore. It lasted a couple of months. I wasn't totally pain free but it wasn't the constant burning pain like before.
I might add that it usually hurts worse the first day or two and then it starts to feel better and it's a good idea to ice the area of the shots.

I had nerve decompression on my lower spine as I'd slipped two discs, i also have degerative scoliosis, curvature of the spine. So the surgeon said he sliced off the portion of the disc that was pressing on the nerve causing the pain. But sadly it didn't last too long and I've since gone on to have two more operations, the last one resulting in having 4 metal rods inserted in my spine to stabilise it. But my experience is probably different to yours so everyone has a different outcome. I would go for it. I was in a desperate state and just asked him to do anything as the pain was unbelievable.

My Chiropractor had a machine called DRX9000 developed by NASA that slowly stretches out your lower back and relieves the psinn from the nerves being compressed - supposedly some people were completely better after going through a 90 days if treatment. I felt about 20% less pain after the first treatment and after 3 or 4 it was 50% better but it didn't stay that way. I went for acupuncture and it helped the most. It just hot frustrating having to keep going back. I had the nerves in my lumbar spine burned - didn't hurt but help relieve the worst pain. Now instead if my lower back being in constant pain I just get pain in one side or the other when I'm on my feet for more than a hr or so or I lift something too heavy.
