If it wasn’t for a pain management Doctor I would never have got enough pain relief for my Arachnoiditis, I have been attending a clinic since 2009. Most GP’s had never heard of my disorder and were very reluctant to give me high doses of opioids which at that time were the only meds that helped!
I would recommend attending a clinic as these are the Doctor’s who have studied Chronic Pain.
It was a Doctor from my clinic who last year inserted a Spinal Chord Stimulator and I was weaned off Fentanyl.
I have other conditions including Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis and will soon be retested for Mitochondrial Myopathy.

They will assess your situation and help you by trying different things. Make the Dr listen to you. If He/She doesn't, Find one who will. I saw a nurse practicioner then went to the Dr. who thought I needed a counselor, I went back to the nurse practicioner and Thank God he listened. I was one fall away from being paralyzed. I had broken hardware in my body. That's why I say make them hear you!! You know your own body and what it feels like. Your not just a number. Good Luck and God Bless. Remember God is Great All of the Time, and All of the Time, God is Great!!

Radio frequency worked better than injections for me as well.

Yes
They try to get your pain under control. They want patients off pain medication if possible. I've tried water therapy which is the best. I currently had back surgery due to RA and finally was cleared to walk in water. I'm so excited, plus using the hot tub makes me feel great. It's just getting the ambition to get there.
Wish the best for you.
