Hi I was put on this and I felt like my head was going to explode I said to my doctor and he put me on prevailing it was like night and day no more sore head
I take Gabapentin and it does help, but not for my arthritic pain, DJD, and spinal spondylosis. It only helps with nerve pain, which is far different than the pain caused by bone grinding against bone (as explained to me by my pain management doctor).
The "Big Guys" who decide what meds we can have are now taking a look at the so-called "over-prescribing" of Gabapentin! I didn't think it would help me at first, and I was offended when my doctor wanted me to try it (because of the stigma of taking something that is conventionally used to help people quit using heroin). Once I tried it though, I was amazed at how much it helped. I have to admit it doesn't "cure" my pain, but it brings it to a tolerable level.
If you're in the Las Vegas area, try getting your family doctor to give you a referral to the Nevada Comprehensive Pain Center.
My doctor there doesn't only hand out prescriptions - he offers to do things to help whatever is causing the pain (shots in the affected joints, removal of nerves deemed "unnecessary", etc.).
