My prayers are with you. Hopefully your new doctor will be understanding. Please let us know. You have a lot of people pulling for you.
I’m sure the clinic will be open. As to your appointment, I would go at 10:00 & take your letter with you to show them. Hopefully, they will work you in, but I would take a book and wear comfortable clothes & anything else that might help you, Incase you can’t get in until 1:00. Good Luck, I’ll say another prayer for you. Hope you are not in too much pain. I’m traveling today, or I would have answered you earlier, thanks to all that came through. Demonstrates how great this group is!! Let us know how it goes.

@A MyChronicPainTeam Member, the first visit is usually a fact finding mission on their part, and they hesitate to give meds right away right now. That is why I am trying to get into a new doctor before my 90 days are up with the old doctor, so I don’t have a lapse in medication. They want to get the official notes for your old doctor, regardless of you taking notes with you. The bloodwork is to check if you have nothing in your system that you did not disclose. When I started with my last PM dr, they came into my room and said, “we have to find out why you are showing up positive for barbiturates!” I went home and put every single one of my medications into web md one at a time to read about them, and discovered that the medication I take for my essential tremors is a barbiturate. It was right there on the list, but I had to do the work, not them looking at my list of other medications than my pain meds! I was appalled and called them and told them that the answer was right there in front of them! They just said oh, ok and thank you and hung up. But that just proves that we have to advocate for ourselves. They are looking to find out if you are getting pain meds from somewhere else, or doing street drugs, all of which THEY have driven patients to doing by cutting them off. I’m tempted to go in a wheelchair if my appointment is beyond the 90 days, and to show them that I can not walk without my medication.
@A MyChronicPainTeam Member Hey Mike, the shutdown is a partial one and doesnt effect services like SS or the VA medical. So take your letter, show up at 10AM and hope if thats not correct that they work you in before 1PM. Like @LydiaHillebrenner said dress comfortably and bring what you need to be comfortable for a long wait, just in case. Also can you please update us on what this new doctor does for you. Good luck and best wishes. Take gentle care and Happy New Year.
