Meds Before Bed Making Stomach Hurt What Can Help?
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

I take so many pills just before I am supposed to fall asleep but taking so many pills just before bed and then I'm nauseous for 3-4 hours and it is frustrating when some of those pills are supposed to help me fall asleep ..... Any recommendations to help my stomach so I can sleep

@A MyChronicPainTeam Member Dont take meds on an empty stomach especially at bedtime. Always eat crackers or toast just something to coat your stomach first. Take the meds and cover them about halfway through. If you are a back, stomach or right side sleeper everything pools in your stomach but sleeping on your left side allows it to drain. When I was younger I had a doudinal ulcer from this that I suffered with for years. Once I learned to eat, take meds, finish snack, and sleep on left side it magically healed. Now this was my personal experience. I hope it works for you too.

Try zantac because it works on your stomach and is good for ulcers or just an upset stomach.

@A MyChronicPainTeam Member OMG I hope this works for me. My sleep has been horrible for decades. If this solves that I'll forever be in your debt. Thank you for that. @A MyChronicPainTeam Member I hope you got the information you needed. I too take a boatload of Rx at bedtime. Almost a snack in size. My suggestion which I'll bet you've gotten from everyone is eat something before you take your Rx. Also to cover them up. Hope this helps.

Try a supplement called Graviola. You won't need those sleep pills anymore. Its relaxes your body and makes you sleepy. Has a lot of other benefits too.

I have also found some types of herbal teas they have that are supposed to help with upset stomach, maybe try some of those. You could also try maybe spacing them out a bit before bed and perhaps take some an hour before, some two hours before, etc. Maybe look up and see if any have poor interactions between each other and try to take them a bit apart from each other, so that you've metabolized certain ones a bit before taking others. Also some cause nausea with food ( learned that one the hard way ) and some without, so you could again try and tweak things a little. I'm sure so long as you can consistently take them around that time and if you are trying to be safe about it, there is some wiggle room and the ability to see what works best for you. You could even try going over what you take with your doc and ask him to see if any of them have known interactions and ask what can be done if anything.
