Hi @A MyChronicPainTeam Member my husband has facial neuralgia after getting shingles on one side of his face. He is on pregabalin to treat the nerve pain. This is effective until he gets flare ups when he has to up his pain medication.
Nerve pain is horrendous I have chronic nerve pain I used to have 3600 mg per day af gaberpentine. It was overall fairly good at treating nerve pain but has so many side effects that I was eventually changed over to pregabalin. Which isn’t quite so harsh on the body.
I am sorry that you are experiencing these painful neuralgia episodes. All I can say is that things usually settle down for a while but the flare ups are more difficult to manage. It’s a lot of trial and error. One piece of advice my husband gave was to stay out of the wind. Hope things improve for you soon. Hugs and prayers x

Have you watched β€œRoot Cause” on Netflix? It’s about the pain/infection caused by root canals. It’s a pretty amazing documentary!

I get them shooting pains thru my brain also. Feels like lighting going Thu my head..
I had a recent MRI and CT scan. I do suffer from chronic irtetractable headache. I don't have the answer to that severe sharp pain. I just cuss for a bit. But not in public. Accept it and make sure I took my gabapention. And that's all I can do. It just crossed my mind to try going off caffeine. Best Wishes. I'll let you know if it helped.

Hi, yup I have both type 1 and Type 2 TN. It dropped me to the floor nearly 6 years ago and my life has never been the same since it hit. Brutal I know!! Im on a high dose of carbmazapine to keep it at bay, helps for the shooting killer zaps quite a bit but doesnt help alot for the 24/7 type 2 constant ache and weird sensations. We should become friends, we go thru pain its hard to describe unless you experience it, and nobody ever should have to! Love to you!!
