Radiofrequency Ablation
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

What can you do for a tailbone that has arthritis? I've got cortisone shots but I need them every month and they won't give them that often. The pain when I sit and then try to stand is unbearable.

I have had RFA done on my lumbar spine and my neck. I wish it were a permanent fix but the pain does come back because your nerves grow back.

Antidepressants may be effective for treating chronic pain associated with symptoms of depression, but they have a risk of side effects.[13] Although the antiseizure drugs gabapentin, pregabalin, and topiramate are sometimes used for chronic low back pain evidence does not support a benefit.[91] Systemic oral steroids have not been shown to be useful in low back pain.[1][13] Facet joint injections and steroid injections into the discs have not been found to be effective in those with persistent, non-radiating pain; however, they may be considered for those with persistent sciatic pain.[92] Epidural corticosteroid injections provide a slight and questionable short-term improvement in those with sciatica but are of no long-term benefit.[93] There are also concerns of potential side effects.[94]

A study with 80 patients found magnesium to be useful in those with chronic back pain.[95]

Yes I have Issues with my tailbone and lumbar spine with Osteoarthritis too and my doctor put me on 6 Panadol Osteo tablets each tablet is 65mg Paracetamol each 24 hours and it does help me.

Another idea is to sit on an inflatable donut cushion with the centre cut out.

My favourite place to walk around the Mooloolah River boardwalk here at Minyama daily walks have helped me to get fitter and I eat 3 healthy meals a day and I have lost 6kg in 6 months and I feel strong and well mostly
