Medication And Memory
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone noticed a coalition vis a vie memory and meds. My memory has been getting progressively worse monthly. I AM 52 so it may just be I'm getting old but I was sharp as a knife when I was younger. Could the meds mess with memory

Around our 30's, no matter our health, we make less of an enzyme needed. It was discovered and one company with many researchers and doctors found how to harness this and help people. (no guarantees given) With pure properties, it has 28 peer reviews and 7 patents to keep it pure. We often blame age on our health, but maybe it isn't all age?

Possibly, becoming very familiar with Glutathione. But one can't take Glutathione - it comes in an NRF form. Go to PubMed and put in your diagnosis and see if NRF2 shows up. This enzyme is necessary to keep healthy - and especially the mind. Most physicians are aware, but they aren't sure how to give it. There are other possibilities, including medications. Look up each medication and I find Drugs.com helpful. You can put in your medications, and it will also tell you if there are adverse reactions when mixing them.

I know the feeling, some of my memory’s totally gone. My Dr said combination of the chronic pain and meds. I am getting an MRI on my brain to see if anything shows up.

Makes sense, and for me it would be multiplied due to less than stellar kidney function, so along with the crap I put into my body to function, my toxic buildup is more than the average person😵‍💫😵‍💫

For me, at 68, it's the meds. You know Alexa would be even more helpful if it could tell people why they came in a room in their house on bad days. Also, chronic pain keeps your brain occupied and only gives you a small portion of it to navigate everyday life.

I think meds can definitely affect memory. I can be anywhere from very alert to being forgetful to going into complete brain fog where I can't keep a thought in my head for more than a few seconds. My cardiologist lowered one blood pressure med and that has helped, but I still struggle at times. My anxiety also causes scattered thoughts and inability to do things like packing for a trip or following a recipe. Some anxiety meds actually cause brain fog, but I'm on a very low dose so I don't think that is the source of my problems. A good question for your doctor might be to ask if any of your meds might be part of the problem.
