I'd love to hear about your experiences and journey with this medication. How's it going for you?
Hello Philip. I just googled low dose naltrexone or LDN. It says that it is 10% of a full dose of an opioid. I take a low a low dose of a benzodiazepine which is a different class. Unfortunately , I don't know how LDN would affect someone's body. I do know that my body is addicted to the 1 MG of Ativan that I take daily. I would need to be weened off of it.
I'm currently using LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone) for my chronic pain, and it's been a significant help for me. I'm curious if anyone else here is on LDN and how it's impacting your life.
Just to give a quick overview - LDN isn't an opioid, but an opioid antagonist. In high doses (50mg or more), it's used to treat drug or alcohol addiction. But in low doses (2mg to 5mg), it works differently. It encourages the brain to produce more endorphins, our body's natural painkillers.
There's also some research suggesting that LDN can help with inflammation and gut issues, and it's even being studied for potential use in treating some forms of cancer.
Unfortunately, it's still challenging to get this treatment for pain in Canada, especially if you're relying on a family doctor. I'm fortunate to see a pain specialist who is an anesthesiology doctor. I could say a lot about the healthcare system and the struggles of being diagnosed with chronic pain, but I'll leave it at that for now.
I hope this helps clarify what low dose naltrexone is.
thank you for sharing. I did not know about this.🤞❣️
