I was recently diagnosed with having a large bone spur at C1-C2. It's pressing on a major artery & my spinal sac and spinal cord. I was told that it's very rare to have a bone spur so high up. I've been to an orthopedic spine surgeon & a neurosurgeon. Both of them say that they refuse to do surgery on me as it would be very dangerous. They'd have to take apart the bottom of my skull, remove the bone spur, & then fuse my skull to C1. This could result in stroke, paralysis, or worse. So I'm left… read more

Hi @A MyChronicPainTeam Member in answer to your question l had bone spurs on C3/4 and on C5/6. The neurosurgeon ground down the Spurs, l also had trapped nerve which they released. I also have bulging discs C4/5 and C6/7.
My advice to you sweetie is to find another neuro and get a second opinion as normally bone spurs are not removed but ground down. Wishing you all the very best, love to hear how you get on seeing as l have had similar stuff, keep in touch love Gwynnie 🌻
Please don't have the surgery, it sounds too risky
I don't have this particular problem. I have had "treatment" concerning pain management. The first treatment was opioids, which worked well enough for a period of time, then stopped working at all. As I didn't want to opt for stronger opioids I went to a Pain Rehab program by Mayo Clinic in Rochester ... something I know finally helped me to gain hope and begin "rehabbing" my mind (Cleveland Clinic has a similar program, there are probably more).
Hi Sabrina, I have a spur at c5-c6 it is painful . I'm sorry your another person stricken with a spinal issue. I don't want to sound negative but I would want to caution you should you find a surgeon that says he can help. as you know the brain controls every part of the body via the spinal cord therefore every signal from the brain passes through the neck so the possibility for a negative outcome with any neck surgery is very high, all communication from the brain could be effected. Pain management it not bad know your doctors background and educate yourself. read everything you can about any prescription youget so you fully understand how it works.
I have same problem and still searching for someone to help me. This is horrible! 😢
