Do Different Brands Of Meds Work The Same?
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Hi just wondering if it's just me or do any of you feel the same about getting different brands of the same Meds and how they work when I get one brand of my thyroid Meds it seems to help yet some other brands seem to have no effect I feel like it's taken me a while to get to this conclusion and am now writing down which brand I get and comparing so I can maybe ask the GP to just write the name of the better Tablet for me in the script so that's the one I get each time .Is this possible or is… read more

I have tried several synthetic thyroid supplements and was followed by specialists who prescribed generic ones which were ineffective for me, creating levels which bounced me literally from one dosage to another. For 3 years I attempted to get level results from generics with unhappy results. So my GP suggested taking synthroid and low and behold in 3 months I was leveled out and have remained there for a year now. I found that it is very important to take any other medication including for pain at least 2 hours before or after taking the synthroid it can and will effect the efficacy of both medications.

I set my alarm for 7:15am and take my synthroid when I let my dogs out. Then at 9:15 I take my vitamins and pain pills wait for 1 hour and then eat breakfast. Then I am done with pills until bedtime at 9:15 I take my night meds. Sometimes I have to take overthe top meds in the afternoon but then I am so far away from my synthroid it doesnt effect it at all.

in theory generic drugs are all the same - but I have heard about people getting different results with different versions of thyroid supplements - you may do better with the brand name synthroid - your insurance may balk but it's been on the market for years so it should be cheap. good luck.

Yes the generic brands @A MyChronicPainTeam Member although they have the same active ingredient I.e. Drug in them they are mixed with inferior binding ingredients which may or may not appear to be as therapeutic, and can sometimes make you feel quite ill.

If you buy genetic brands of a drug. You do not know what the filler is. That's the other ingredients mixed with the drug to make the drug bulky.
