Reduce Cost Massage/Acupuncture
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

My insurance won't cover any type of alternative pain relief treatments like acupuncture. I have tried it two times and it helped better than any medicine or other treatments I have ever tried, but had to pay completely out of pocket and it's no way near cheap. My family already has to care for my paralyzed mother and we can't afford any extra spending. Our insurance barely covers any of my families medical expenses, but we make "too much" money to receive any type of aid. Is there any other way… read more

You look young, but if you are 65 or over you can get help through My Aged Care, you can find it on google, that's where I go and I pay very much less than I was paying for treatment and they are all very nice. I am in South Australia.

Are you in South Australia? My cousin used to go to a Dr who did bulk billing for visits and I think it was $10.00 for acupuncture. I used to pay $10.00 to my doctor as well and he was really good, however, it was sometime ago but maybe there are still doctors who do acupuncture and bulk bill at a medical centre perhaps.

I was getting acupuncture through my doctors surgery by a doctor who believed in its usefulness. Maybe inquire at your local clinic if anyone does acupuncture as I am going back a few years now, but he wasn't the only one my cousin used to also go to a doctor that did acupuncture for a very low price. I know what you mean about not qualifying for anything because of earnings, but the extra earnings go on all the things others get for free or minimal cost so we are in a no win situation, but acupuncture wasn't means tested where I went.
