Has Anyone Else Tried Nucynta?
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been through the wringer with pain meds, clinics, injections
Y'all know. I know you've all been through it too
I'm allergic to most anti inflamitories so pain meds have to be strong. I can't get a doctor in the entire city to keep me comfortable until my therapist gave me Tramadol a year ago. Upping the doses was fine but taking so many pills a day was ridiculous!
I spoke at length to my fantastic pharmacist that said I either need Percocet (which metabolizes too fast for my body and… read more

DocPillage I cant agree with you more.
I had gone to a NP who saw my chart and what i had gone though. She was kind and gave me Tramadol. I wrnt back after a few weeks for my blood pressure check and test results. I told her thst the tramadol was a blessing and really was so much better than anything else. She left me in her office and 2 officers walked in and escorted me out to their car. They told me that I haf to see an officer at their DEA location pr I wpuld be arrested. Lucky for me...I know the Constitution and I wasnt going anywhere without cause and asked if I was being detained. Of course I wasn't, because there wasn't a reason. I had simply asked my physician if she would consider raising my dose. I reported her to the Board of Medicine. There wasnt a reason for her to treat me like a criminal. Thats why I have been so skeptical of Dr's.
I had to go to the hospital after falling 4 times in 2 days. I had hit my face, head, and back very hard. I was given a milligram of dilaudid for my pain.
Had thos physician looked at my medication list...he wouldve known that I was taking 20 milligrams 3 times a day. He put on my chart that i was a srug seeker. There was a stimulant in my urine and had he looked at my medications would've seen that too.
I stood up to him and demanded that it be taken off my chart immediately! I had a concussion and had a bone chipped in my cheek. I went home with a bad headache and my blood pressure was at stroke level.
I reported him as well.
I will stand up for myself. My pharmacist and therapist are the only ones who can get me the answers I need and the medications. My therapist is amazing! He is going to mu disability hearing with me if I EVER get one!!!

Update: This Nucynta is the real deal.
I was up to the max dose of Tramadol (500 mgs day, but I was easily taking 1000 w/not much relief)
and had gained a tolerance. I take 400 mgs of the Nucynta a day and I have had an actual break in my pain level. I was actually at a 4 yesterday!!!!
Then I totally over did it, (as usual!) took a bike ride and fell into bed in pain. I push my limits like a crazy person. Im going to take it easy today since my sons 9th birthday party is on Sunday (and my house is a TOTAL sh*t hole with dirt!) and I'd like to be able to enjoy it!
My pharmacist said since its new...its extremely expensive but, my insurance actually paid for something for once!
There is also ER so I may have to try that and use the other for bad days.

Heid459, we are on the same page! After having a nurse/pract. make a hand sign for more money, both my wife and I decided to say "the Hell with doctors" We have been suffering, badly, for over a year and a half. It has proven to be a bad decision as quality of life has gone out the window and physical decline has increased dramatically! It is simply crazy having to find help in a world where the patient is considered an "addict" by both the law and the doctor because of opiates. We can no longer allow ourselves to be treated like criminals because we live in pain! Why is it the socially irresponsible few always are in the news instead of the over 100 million suffering from chronic pain? After suffering for over 55 years with chronic pain, being prescribed NSAIDS, that caused me to lose all of my teeth (excuse-so I wouldn't get "hooked" on opiates), given other "safe" drugs that have damaged organs (doctors betraying their oath at patient expense), and paid for countless drug screens, and have heard far too many ignorant comments. I say enough is enough.
I know probably every sufferer out there that has a story very similar to your and mine. We need to post stories of the shaming by the drug police and bad doctors & staff by people whose only crime is suffering from chronic pain. Has anyone ever had a doctor look at them and say "I wish you people would just DIE!"?- I have.

I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has tried this drug. This idea of not taking a drug because of the "stigma" associated with those people who wish to practice self abuse, makes no sense to me. By cowering to what others may say only empowers those who are wanting to deny relief to the tens of millions of chronic pain sufferers in favor of the futile hope that the minority of people who choose to abuse themselves will somehow stop if everyone is denied access to these drugs. Anyone who has taken opiates will agree that they are far from the perfect answer. The problem is, there is no substitute at this time and there is no substitute on the horizon that I am aware of. [Someone please correct me if I am in error!] We need to stand together and educate the uninformed of this reality. After over 55 years of painful days and sleepless nights I am tired of being stigmatized and my needs put behind those of others who have chosen to be socially irresponsible, for whatever reason. Lets stand up, together!

I took nucynta ER for several months and it did nothing for me.
I’m an ultra rapid metabulizer so a lot of pain meds don’t work for me. I’m back on Percocet. It helps some but I’m still in pain. I have run the gamut on pain meds and I’m in the process of getting a spinal cord pain stimulator.
