Are You Able To Cope With The Heat
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

Are you able to cope with the heat now that summer is here? Along with chronic pain do you have COPD or asthma too?

I live in Ohio. I love the heat but not when it gets humid. I have Fibro, severe arthritis in hips, knees and sacroiliac joints. Also in lumbar spine . My pain is much better when hot. I have been told by my Dr I would do much better in a constant warm, dry state. My children are here and 5 grandbabies. I can't move so I bear it in the winter. It's bad then, I rarely leave the house which then adds to depression. I get out as often as I can in the summer and hold on to the memories of those times to get me threw the cold.

I left the state of Vermont for Arizona 17 years ago. I have 5 grandsons and I go back to Vermont once a year for 3 weeks. I do miss them teribbly but not enough to make me move back to Vermont. Jean

No,not at all!! I have not been able to stop sweating for 10 years now!! When summer is here,I suffer from the heat,I stay indoors next to my good old air conditioner all day long!!! I Love the Fall and Winter now, never thought I would ever say that!! I used to lay in the sun all day long, when I was younger, and not going through the change of life. I just stay where it's cool and comfy all summer!!!

Heat? What heat? Oh you mean outside? I don't do outside, unless I have no choice. I can't anyway. I have Vertiligo, and because of that, I have no pigment. I get skin cancers all the time. If I do have to go outside loose, loose, clothing, hat, sunglasses, long sleeves, ( they make long sleeves out of all kinds of ultra light, loose, material, ). Underneath, Cooling vest, cooling scarf, cooling wrist pads. Make sure you have cold water in a thermal glass or bottle. And make sure you are in shade at all costs. If you use a walker, it's a good idea to make it a wheelchair instead and if you can't, make sure you have seating readily available. Oh and if you're not peeing, you're getting dehydrated. Time to get some water, not soda, coffee, or tea, water in you. Good luck.

I hate the heat. I'm uncomfortable in humidity too, partlly because some of the meds have that effect in hot temperatures.I have trouble breathing when it gets super hot in July and August. I've never been a winter person, but fo some reason the cold is more comfortable to me.
