I have been fighting with the doctors about a diagnosis for years. Finally come up with fibromyalgia they haven't given me any pain meds except naproxen and amitripline and I have to waitress and I'm in a great deal of pain. Is there anything else you take that doesn't have to be prescribed to help you.

Members rallied around a young waitress newly diagnosed with fibromyalgia who was struggling with pain despite limited medication options, offering both emotional support and practical alternatives to prescription drugs. Several members recommended over-the-counter options including combining Advil and Tylenol, muscle rubs and topical creams, ice packs, hot baths, and CBD or cannabis oil, while others strongly encouraged seeking a specialist like a rheumatologist who could prescribe more effective medications such as Lyrica, Neurontin, or Gabapentin. A recurring theme was the importance of advocating for better care, staying active when possible, and finding what works for your individual body through trial and error.

Yes I take between 700-800 mg a day..mostly at night...it helps the neuropathy quite a bit.i don't like the side effects but it is better than the pain. I have neuropathy all over my whole body and inside also. I also have fibro..just doing the best I can day to day.

Amitriptilene is a very old treatment for fibro..there are many others like lyrica or neurontin...many others too. It sounds like you might not be seeing a specialist. Go to a rheumatologist or neurologist. They should also suggest physical therapy. I don't think there is much you can do without RX but hot showers, baths and pain rubs. But there are meds to help you get some relief and continue with your life.
