Have any of you experienced weight gain from neurontin? I have been on it for 1 1/2 years now and as they raised the dose I noticed I started going weight. I now take 800mgs a day. Since April I have gone from 140 lbs to 180. I am not happy at this weight but the drug does help a lot..though I still have the neuropathy all over my body, including my face. I am not eating more. I was on Neurontin many years ago after my first open joint TMJ surgery, my surgeon allowed the newest doc in the practice to do my right joint (worse one of course) and he "moved out of the way" one of the five main nerves that branch out from the jaw joint. I was told him "moving" this nerve caused it to do something-this was in 1995 and I don't remember what he told me exactly" and my right eye drooped, would not totally shut and my eyebrow would not move. I also was numb below my eye to my cheekbone. I was put on 1200 mgs 4x a day. It seemed to help some-my eye shuts and my eye only droops when I am really tired or heavily medicated since my eyebrow doesn't go up. I'm still numb over my cheekbone but for some weird reason every now and then I get that awful crawling feeling right there. I have heard lots of people are taking it now for many things and my neurologist asked if I had ever taken it for migraines. Kinda surprised me. I hope whatever treatment you decide on works well for you.
