Have any of you experienced weight gain from neurontin? I have been on it for 1 1/2 years now and as they raised the dose I noticed I started going weight. I now take 800mgs a day. Since April I have gone from 140 lbs to 180. I am not happy at this weight but the drug does help a lot..though I still have the neuropathy all over my body, including my face. I am not eating more. Members shared mixed experiences regarding weight gain from Neurontin (gabapentin), with some reporting significant gains of 20-25 pounds while others noticed no change at all, even at higher doses. Several members offered practical strategies including reducing portion sizes, cutting back on processed foods, trying water-based exercise like aquatic therapy classes, and one member found relief by switching to medical marijuana with doctor supervision. A recurring theme was the challenge of balancing medication benefits against unwanted side effects, with many acknowledging that reduced activity from chronic pain or injury likely contributes to weight changes alongside the medication itself.

I hate neurontin I take 1600 mg a day on top of my infusion that I have every 6 months.I have put on weight but it's not just the medication it's that we can't do excerise and I find I eat more.

I've been on gabapentin for years and I gained some weight on it. I find going to the YMCA to to Gentle Toning and Stretching in the therapy pool helpful. I also cut way back on my portion sizes and the junk food I eat.

I've been on neuronton before. I was on 1800 mgs daily. I didn't notice weight gain, but the help it provided was minimal.

I gained a ton of weight!!! A ton. If you are gaining a lot - get off it. It is a terrible drug anyway.
