I saw someone else had severe edema in the legs after taking Lyrica, my question is could I have severe swelling the first time I took 150 mgs after a week of taking 50 mgs am and pm and then a week of 75 mgs? I may have had some sight swelling prior but I get mild swelling now and then since I stopped processing all proteins while in the hospital during my pregnancy-actually one of the reasons I was induced earlier than expected. That is the only other time I swelled up like I did Friday… read more
Same here I swelled up in the face right away.
I have heard a lot of bad things about lyrica. I swelled up my whole body , mouth even swollen. I was allergic. It really messed up a friend because of her other meds. They really push it tho. There may be people who it works for. I just haven't talked to any. Be careful with lyrica.
Thanks so much for the info. Like I said, when I was pregnant I was in the hospital for almost 3 months and fed through a pic line-my digestive system stopped. Opiates slow digestive system and so does pregnancy so around 4 months everything stopped and when I tried to eat it came back up. Took the doctors forever to figure out what was wrong, and put me in the hospital for as long as I could carry my son. All of a sudden I started to swell-a lot and very quickly-my body stopped processing the proteins they were "feeding" me in my pic line so they had to induce. Since then I notice my feet and ankles would swell when I never had it before and he said the veins are like rubber bands and since they swelled so much once, they will never go back to like they were before. This swelling with the Lyrica was so quick and I could feel it go up my to my thighs and dang it hurt! Ankles were so big it hurt to walk. I kept them up and put on my compression leggings and knee socks and it still took over 2 days to go down and stop aching. I was taking Lasik to help. Blood clots and/or DVT's also run on both sides of my family so I guess I really should tell my GP about this when I go for my 6 mo ck up next month. Kidneys and liver and all that get checked out 2x a year because of all the meds.
Thanks so much for all the info and "listening" to me complain!
Have a great day!
I had huge huge swelling in my legs to the point it damaged all my lymph nodes behind my knees and other points in my legs. It was within the first week tho of taking Lyrica. I had to stop taking immediately and get special therapy to compress my legs and drain lymph fluid. I underwent this horrid therapy for about 6 months where if I wasn't careful they would swell again. The swelling after the first time was because I couldn't get the lymph fluid out of my legs as the previous Lyrica swelling messed them up. Most people's legs swell because of poor circulation, but that isn't the only reason. You could be experiencing Lymph edema like I did. People who have mastectomy es get it as they often have Lymph glands removed. They have to wear a special garment to prevent their arm from swelling.
You might want to check into leg lymphadema. If your legs keep swelling a lot you could be doing further damage.
@reaction to lyrica. hi. i had bad experiences to it , as well. excederin for migraine(if you can take it and it is ok with your other meds to put it in the mix) works extremely well. i used it brfore i went thru anaphlaytic reaction to keflex, now im mcs(multiple chemical sensitivity) and cant take aspirin and many other medicines. but i have had 2 severe closed head injuries and major 3 day migraines and excederin for migraines used to work like a charm. make sure to ask a reputabble phaemacist whois aware of your medicine regime if it is ok to mix it with what you take now, before taking it.
