I try to eat healthy and to lose weight but I am not too successful with either. I can manage breakfast and lunch pretty well, but by dinner time I am exhausted, my knee and back pain are at their worst, and I find it hard to prepare a healthy, low calorie meal. Too many times I end up grabbing something from the freezer or eating processed food that has way too much sodium and fat, just to satisfy hunger. Living by myself aggravates the problem, since it's often hard to cook for one. I do… read more

I have tried those in the past when I can find them on sale. Some are still higher in sodium than I would like, but others are reasonable. They rarely go on sale here. I agree--cooking for one is difficult. My daughter bought me a cooking for one cookbook but it drove me nuts. Who wants to use 1/4 of a can of tomatoes and have the rest hanging around to be thrown out later? Any time I cook I do it in steps. I lay out the ingredients. Later on I take anything that has to be chopped or sliced and do as much as I can sitting down. My mother used to park a kitchen chair near the stove when she was "minding" a pot or skillet and sit down between stirs and turning food. I haven't done that yet but may have to try it.

I've been getting Smart ones frozen meals. Made by Weight watchers. They aren't too bad. I can't stand up long enough to cook. And it crazy to try for only myself.
