I found a pain doctor (finally! ) who explained my pain. He broke it down to bone pain being different than nerve pain. He said opiates help bone pain, but nerve pain is different, and gave me Gabepentin for it. It's like a miracle drug. The unbearable, sharp, excruciating pain in my upper back went away almost immediately! Good luck with everything. I suggest you shop around for a pain doctor who knows what he's doing, is willing to take time to explain things to you, and who is willing to give you the correct medicine to help you. A big plus is if your doctor gives you treatment options like epidural shot series, and removal of the nerves that cause your pain.
