Treatment For Stenosis Of The Spine
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

Low back pain gotten much worse even with physical therapy. Doctor ordered an MRI and I was diagnosed with Stenosis of the lumbar spine causing severe pain in legs. Doctor recommended surgery. I am afraid of back surgery. Have heard all kinds of horror stories about pain becoming worse. My cardiologist said surgery is simply opening up the narrowed spine area to free the nerves that are being crushed by the stenosis. Otherwise it gets worse. Is it really that simple? Anyone had this surgery?

I had lumbar surgery August 2015 and I can't be happier with the results! One less pain issue to have to deal with! I was walking pain-free hours after surgery.

Normally when I hear back surgery I would say run as fast as you can away from it, but not for the type you are speaking of. I am talking about when they have to put rods and screws in your back.a

My physical condition is quite similar. Its been 4 years and my Dr as just decided to refer me for cortisone injection in my lower back. This would be the first attemp to relief this chronical pain. Hope it Works.

Hope you find the strength to take the décision.

@charlenemuskatagles, I was diagnosed with the very same thing. I did have the surgery and at least for me it's been a God send. No more pain!!

I too have stenosis but they told me surgery wouldn't help. I take injection 3 x a yr.Sometimes they burn the nerves and mother times cortisone injection. But its still just treating the pain not fixing the problem. Believe me I totally relate to your delima!
