Has Anyone Had A Pain Pump & A Scs?
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

My Dr. is talking about putting in a pain pump & changing me from nortiptolene to gabapantin. All would be used in combination with the spinal cord stimulator. Please understand that my body is the exception not the rule. I suffer from crps in my back, left lower leg (just below knee), & in my left foot. I have had 7 surgeries on my leg/foot already. I have to go see a cardiovascular surgeon on the 30th. I have decreased circulation in my leg/foot. Also, my foot has a purple tint to it. Worst… read more

I am not sure about something electrical to massage my leg. I have settings on my stimulator that massages. I have an appt with my pain specialist later this month, I will ask about that.

Lita, yes! Medtronic is the manufacturer! I contacted several medica attorneys and they wouldn't touch them. They have enough lawyers to form a baseball and a football team! I was told by some of the lawyers that they have tons of lawsuits filed against them! I'm so happy that you posed that question here so I could warn you! Stay with your current p.o. meds that YOU have control over. (Along with your other modalities) It's all about the all mighty buck for Medtronic and the doctor. (unfortunately) So glad you're dodging that bullet! - Adena♥️

Hi! Oh Lordy, where should I begin? I'm going to make this as short as possible. I did have a pain pump in the lower left quadrant of my abdomen. It was so uncomfortable there, dr moved it to the back lower left quadrant. That was more comfortable. Now, few months later, my husband returns home from church and finds me in bed with grayish skin, bluish lips, etc. He calls 911. Long story short, my pain pump had leaked and huge amts of morphine, demerol and fentanyl were now surging through my body. My blood oxygen saturation was 73%. ( normal is above 93%) The person in charge of the computer thing (not sure what he is called) had to make an hour and a half trip to hospital to turn it off. In the meantime, I had to have 3 doses of Narcan....1 week in ICU...blah blah blah. Dummy dr went to take it out but only took out the pump container, not the tube that the med flows in to the section of pain. Uugghh.....2 hours later, I'm in surgery again....taking out the tube. My next trick was getting an infection in my spinal fluid as a result. Ok....now I have NEVER had so much pain, hallucinations, loss of all body function, etc. OMG...I wished for death. Went home with a port in my chest for 2 mo with antibiotics twice a day. Now, my advice? Don't do it. Please. Please.
