I would like to be off pain medication. I want to be able to sleep properly without medication. I want to rejoin society in a productive way and thus need a way of balancing my life and my pain.

Members connected over the challenging quest to manage nerve and chronic pain without medication, with many expressing a shared longing for medication-free sleep and a return to productive daily life. Several members offered strategies they've found helpful, including meditation, saunas and steam rooms to calm the nervous system, swimming and gentle exercise, Epsom salt baths with lavender, aromatherapy pillow sprays, and placing trust in faith and spiritual guidance during difficult times. A recurring theme was the importance of continuing to explore alternative treatments through research and trial-and-error while acknowledging that what works varies greatly from person to person, and that lowering stress and nervous system activation can provide meaningful relief even when complete freedom from medication feels out of reach.

I understand what it’s like to deal with pain and chronic insomnia while my mind feels like a tornado. I’ve used meditation practices and saunas/steam rooms to help calm my system and get some sleep. It helped a lot to just lower the noise and and let my body/mind get a break.

Thank you Lynsey2 for caring. Yes, I have taken antidepressants and anxiety meds and for most of my life. I have also been in therapy on and off for most of my life. I am so tired of therapy and meds. But, I am afraid to go off meds. The last time I did, I wound up in the hospital. Yes, I think exercise helps a lot. I swim in the summer months. I am living in the med-atlantic area of US. Currently, I have had so much trouble with my stomach that I only weigh 92 lbs. I am 5'4" tall , medium build. I would like to gain at least 10 lbs before I start exercising. It seems like nothing is working for me. Today was not too bad of a day. I am placing my whole life , mind, body, and soul in God's hands, asking Him to guide me. I believe He will. This is helping me relax and not worry so much about all the mistakes I have made and feeling content with my life as it is now. I will pray for you and I truly appreciate your thoughts and suggestions. Marlie

Hi Marlie,
Have you ever had any type of therapy for your emotional pain? I am not sure if talking therapies, meditation or alternative therapeutic techniques would be useful. Do you take any form of medication?
I apologise for asking questions it's just because I would like to understand what you find works for you.
It sounds like when your body is tired your mind may be more receptive to talking with someone? Idk do you ever use exercise? x
