RE: Weird Speech Impedament
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi there. I seem to be dealing with a weird speech impedament lately. Sometimes when I talk, my lower jaw jerks about, making it hard for me to speak. What could be causing this? Two years ago, I took a nasty fall and hit my head on the ground. Could this be the cause of the speech issue? What other things could cause this problem? Feeling frustrated and scared about this. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hi Jeff. I'm on Seroquel for anxiety disorders. Can that cause tardive dyskinesia?

I'm not sure if that would cause TD or not. I believe it's mostly caused by bipolar and schizophrenia antipsychotic meds

Also, the tardive dyskinesia is a big consideration, so mention that at the dr

Do you think it could be TMJ? I have this, and my lower jaw dislocates often, while I'm talking, chewing, and even drinking something!
