How Does Stress Affect Your Pain?
A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I think the flare-up in back pain Iā€™m having is only partially because of physical activity and partially from stress. How do I separate them and keep the stress from making my pain worse?šŸ˜«

Unrelated, there needs to be a better pain emoji.

Agree that stress aggravates my pain. I can usually tell because there is an identifiable trigger, but ongoing stressors, I believe, tense my neck snd shoulder muscles which intensifies pain.

I use distraction- something I can lie down and get immersed in. Usually something as silly as a Hoarders marathon or as deep as a podcast into the lead up to the Iraq war. I do yoga, low impact of course, and Epsom salt bubble baths. I also have a cheap stars and cosmos ceiling projector to get a low light, calming vibe.

Wishing you peace and relaxation.

As far as baths and showers go, Dr. Teal's body washes, baths, and lotions all have Epsom salt in them. I like the one called Endurance. It's even a good shampoo. Has anyone heard of this?

Stress and anxiety can up my pain big time. Meditation and deep breathing exercises can help lower both to some degree.
