Pain Meds Question

Pain Meds Question

Hi everyone ! I'm so happy to find this site ! My question is I am on fentanyl pain patches since about January for my back..I had 2 compression fractures after having a seizure while driving and hitting the back of another car. It helps my back. I now have tendonitis and a pinched nerve in my elbow. It hurts worse than my back ! I may have to have surgery on my elbow. My concern and question is I'm afraid the fentanyl is not going to cover my surgical pain. I think my tolerance has increased… read more

They should give you a strong narcotic to help boost your fentanyal patch. It is with reason that your system is already used to the amount you are taking and will need more for extra pain. I am on… read more

Has Anyone Had A Spinal Cord Stimulator That Was Removed That Had Been In Place More Than 15 Years?

Has Anyone Had A Spinal Cord Stimulator That Was Removed That Had Been In Place More Than 15 Years?

I am scheduled for a spinal cord stimulator removal that has been in place 19 years. They are doing a 2 level laminectomy at the same time and I’m concerned that the scs removal will keep me under anesthesia longer than the benefits of removing it. I am concerned that the scar tissue has it cemented in the position it is in, and it will not slide out nicely.

Decompression Therapy

Decompression Therapy

Hi, has anyone tried spinal disc decompression therapy. My mother gave me a leaflet about it and I am very cautious about trying treatments for my back pain in case it makes it worse. Does this therapy work as I am at the point where I will try anything to ease the constant pain

A MyChronicPainTeam Member said:

I haven't heard of this type of therapy, and if it's done by chiropractors I'd be very suspicious. Like @SuzanneCarter said, I would do lots of research on this with a spine specialist (preferably… read more

Do Pain Pumps Make You Tired Like Pain Meds?

Do Pain Pumps Make You Tired Like Pain Meds?

I am wondering if I trade from a spinal cord stimulator to a pain pump does it make an individual tired and lethargic like pain meds that are taken orally? I want to switch and have the nerve killed off. I do not care if the Sciatic nerve is cut. The damage is great and I have more pain from scar tissue than I do metal that is put in my back.

Has Anyone Had Multi Level Spinal Decompression And Fusion

Has Anyone Had Multi Level Spinal Decompression And Fusion

I have 4 herniated discs in lumbar spine causing severe stenosis. I have arthritis DDD bone spurs enlarged ligamatum flavum. I went to neurosurgeon to get permanent spine stimulator put in. He reviewed my films and told me my back was too bad to get the stimulator. He said it would mask symptoms and I could get permanent damage. So I am scheduled for decompression and fusion L2 - S1 on May 31st. Was wondering if anyone has had this and any suggestions or tips you may have.

Recovery From Back Surgery

Recovery From Back Surgery

My doctor wants to do a laminectomy on L4-L5 because I have bulging/leaking disc and synovial cyst pressing on my right sciatic nerve. I don't have any family around so I will have to pay someone to help me out after surgery. I am wondering if it will be a long recovery and if I will be able to return to work without pain before 2 weeks (because I'm broke). I also have the same thing on L5-S1 with a cyst on the left side there but he didn't want to fix that yet. Everyone I know who has had back… read more
